DR. GARY LAZARUS
is the owner of Rippowam Animal Hospital. He graduated Veterinary School from the University of Pretoria-Onderstepoort, South Africa in 1989. After working as an emergency clinician in a busy urban clinic he immigrated to the United States in 1990. He started working at Rippowam Animal Hospital soon after arriving in America and he purchased the practice in 1993. He has made major upgrades to the hospital over the years making it today’s state-of-the-art facility offering top notch medical and surgical care for your pets. He practices both medicine and surgery, lately expanding his skills by becoming proficient in ultrasound techniques and both rigid and flexible endoscope. He lives in Stamford with his wife, 2 daughters, 3 Scottish Terriers, a Bengal Cat and numerous tropical fish.
DR. KATHLEEN MEENAN
is the Senior Associate Veterinarian
of Rippowam Animal Hospital. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor degree in Animal Science. She then received her doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University. She began working at Rippowam Animal Hospital in 2000. In 2002 she completed her first course in Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation and wanting to expand treatment options for her clients she pursued Veterinary Chiropractic. In 2005 she began an extensive course in Animal Chiropractic and is board certified by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association. She also has been practicing emergency medicine since 2005. She presently lives in Norwalk with her husband, father, 3 sons, 4 dogs, 5 cats and 9 horses.
DR. MONICA AMEZQUITA
obtained her Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science degree in Colombia, South America. She then moved to the United States and started working at Rippowam Animal Hospital as a Veterinary Technician while getting ready to meet the requirements for US license. She attended a clinical training program at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2012 and successfully completed all the steps for ECFVG certification with the American Veterinary Medical Association. She is very happy to be back in Stamford and especially at Rippowam where she gained a lot of experience working with Dr. Lazarus and Dr. Meenan. Her interests include radiology and ultrasound, critical care and soft tissue surgery.
DR. JEFFREY SHUTTS
attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in biology while also volunteering at local animal hospitals. He worked as a veterinary technician before attending Tufts University, where he received his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Shutts has always had a passion and love for veterinary medicine as well as animals of all shapes and sizes. It has always been his dream to work in a small animal general practice where he can build long term relationships with not only his animal patients, but with his clients as well. His main areas of interests include behavior, dermatology, ultrasound, soft tissue surgery, anesthesia, and pain management.
Dr. Shutts currently lives with his wonderful mutt, Penny, and close to his girlfriend, who is also a Veterinarian.
